New at HITT - January 2010
 |
05/19/2010 - This 2-day intensive Forum Theater workshop taught exercises, games, and improvised Forum Theater scene work from the Theater of the Oppressed repertory, developed by the late Brazilian director and popular educator Augusto Boal. The workshop highlighted the tools, methods, and techniques of rehearsal, and offered insight into the greater body of work that is the Theatre of the Oppressed.
This program is sponsored in part by a grant from the State Farm Youth Advisory Board.

12/14/09 - HITT students from Hoggetowne Middle School, Alachua Learning Center, Eastside High School, and Loften High School met at the Hippodrome Theatre in Gainesville to show each other what they have been working on. The performances included scenes about drugs, alcohol, and bullying. After the performances the groups came together to celebrate with a pizza party.

11/14/09 - H.I.T.T. students from Hoggetowne Middle School made their first trip to Rawlings Elementary School’s after school program to teach games and lead the students through scene work.

11/6/09 - Loften H.I.T.T. students were invited to present their scenes and discuss their process with a theatre class at Santa Fe College.

11/4/09 - Hoggetowne H.I.T.T. students met with H.I.T.T. students from Loften High School for an afternoon. The two groups watched each other’s scenes and provided feedback and encouragement before continuing their tours to other schools.

10/23/09 - A group of H.I.T.T. students from Hoggetowne Middle School took their scenes about bullying, drugs, and smoking to Duval Elementary School during Red Ribbon Week.

10/22/09 - The Eastside H.I.T.T. class traveled to Westwood Middle School to show their scenes about bullying.

10/15/09 - Students from Eastside High School’s H.I.T.T. class toured to Kanapaha Middle School to perform their scenes on bullying.
